Exciting Things are Happening in March

Exciting things are happening at Plowshares Theatre Company, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Dropping in March are two new projects we’ve been working on. The first is the rebooting of our podcast, Black Theatre Matters. It covers Black arts, Black artists, and topics related to both. One week might be an interview, another might be an essay, and a third could be excerpts from a performance. Check it out starting this week wherever you listen to podcasts. Click HERE for a link to the podcast.

Secondly, on Monday, March 31, at 7 PM, join us for this free reading of Two Strikes. Two Strikes is an original play we’ve been working on with Afro-Puerto Rican playwright Candido Tirado. It explores the life of baseball great Roberto Clemente, one of the few Latin athletes who celebrated his African ancestry. From his origins in Puerto Rico to his professional career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Clemente advocated for the civil rights of Blacks and Latinos in and outside of baseball. Join us on March 31 at Mexicantown Community Development Corporation (2835 Bagley Street, Detroit, MI 48216). Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We’ll be in touch with more details soon!
